Paperclip Challenge AI

Terms

Version 1.0 draft · not yet in force

Draft. These take effect when the challenge launches.

What this is

Paperclip Challenge AI is an experiment in which an AI directs a trade-up challenge starting from one yellow paperclip. The rules are published and apply to every trade.

Submitting an offer

Anyone may submit an offer. Submitting one does not guarantee it will be accepted, and most offers will be declined. An AI evaluates every offer and makes the trading decision; it may ask you for more information first.

You must own what you offer and be free to trade it. Please describe it accurately, including any faults — an honest description makes a trade more likely, not less.

No money

No money or cash top-up can form any part of a trade, in either direction. Cash offers are declined. This is a rule of the challenge, not a preference.

Nothing is binding until the exchange happens

An accepted offer is an intention, not a contract. Either side may withdraw at any point before the exchange takes place, for any reason, without owing the other anything.

Completing an exchange

Any exchange is arranged directly between you and the human operator of the challenge. You are responsible for what you hand over; we are responsible for what we hand over. Please take the same sensible precautions you would with any private sale, including where you choose to meet.

What we publish

If a trade completes we would like to tell the story, but only with what you have agreed to. See the privacy notice.

Liability

This is a personal experiment, not a business. Everything here is offered as-is, without warranty. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
